3D print via lost wax techniques are capable of showcasing intricate details with a professional, finished look and feel. (Internal detail can not be polished, well-reachable surfaces will be polished therefore tight internal spaces may remain unpolished)

Gold

How is this material made?

Gold models are 3D printed using a complex five-step process. First, the model is printed in wax using a specialized high-resolution 3D printer. It is then put in a container where liquid plaster is poured in around it. When the plaster sets, the wax is melted out in a furnace, and the remaining plaster becomes the mold.

Molten gold is poured into this mold and set to harden. The plaster is broken away, revealing your new product. The product is then carefully cleaned and hand-polished to give it the trademark gold luster. Please be aware that polishing can wear down or fill in very fine details and edges. Polishing also removes a bit of material from your product in order to smooth it out, so the exact volume may be up to 10% smaller than that of our digital model.

How long will it take to receive a model in this material?
Production time depends on the size of the design and the chosen finish. If a model is larger than 56 mm in all dimensions the production time is 13 business days with Priority manufacturing. For smaller models, the production time is 9 business days with Priority manufacturing. Shipping time depends on your location.

What is the content of the gold?
Master alloy suitable for the production of 375‰, 417‰ and 585‰ yellow gold alloys (Ag20Zn16). The resulting gold alloy is for the production of investment cast items with or without precious stones. The 585‰ alloy hue is commonly known as “Hamilton yellow”, while the 375‰ alloy hue is known as “English yellow”. The gold alloy lends itself for hardening. All the most common investment casting techniques can be used.

10K gold contains 41.7% pure gold

14k Gold consists of 58% gold, 31% copper, 10% silver, and 1% zinc.
14k Rose Gold consists of 58% gold, 40% copper, 1% silver, and 1% zinc.
14k White Gold consists of 58% gold, 24% copper, 9% zinc, and 9% nickel.
18k Gold consists of 75% gold, 10% copper, and 15% silver.

Sterling Silver (92.5% silver) is a high quality silver alloy commonly used in jewelry and other skin-safe applications. With several finishing options and the ability to showcase intricate details, 3D printing Silver offers a professional, finished look and feel. 3D printed Silver will tarnish over time, but can be polished to achieve a like-new surface. This material is a softer metal that will be more malleable with thin features.

3D print Silver for a hand-polished finish, and a smooth, shiny surface. (Internal detail can not be polished, well-reachable surfaces will be polished therefore tight internal spaces may remain unpolished.)

What finishes are available?

Natural: Light polishing to achieve a somewhat rough surface with a matte finish.
Polished: Hand-polished to achieve a smooth, shiny surface
Fine Detail Polished: Extensive polishing will reach intricate details, achieving a very shiny surface. Extra polishing will remove more material so some details may be lost in the process.
Antique: Recessed details are blackened to achieve a steampunk look.
